For this workshop, we'll be staying at the Sea Breeze Lodge located on the northern shores of Hornby Island. We'll be exploring a number of locations during this weekend retreat including Helliwell Provincial Park, Heron rocks and Whalers Bay. We'll also have the opportunity to witness the mass of wildlife that congregates on the shoreline waiting for the yearly Herring run.
Meals are not included in this workshop as most of the restaurants are closed on Hornby at this time of year. The Sea Breeze Lodge does offer appetizers on Saturday afternoons that we may take advantage of. Each of the cabins does have a small kitchen to prepare your own meals.

Where is Hornby Island?
Hornby Island lies on the east coast of Vancouver Island, overlooking the Strait of Georgia, roughly a 45min drive north of Nanaimo. Getting to Hornby Island involves two ferries from Buckley Bay on Vancouver Island to Denman Island and the Hornby.
How hard will the hiking be? PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT!
Hiking? who said anything about hiking? Yes, we will be walking, the distances are typically no more than a couple of kilometres return. The hikes are generally not hard but will involve walking over unstable beach rocks and logs
What camera gear should I bring?
The following are some recommendations. Generally we will be focusing primarily on landscape photography but may encounter some wildlife shooting opportunities. Ideally, since we will be hiking throughout the day and carrying our own gear, equipment should be kept to a minimum. Here is a list of what we typically carry in the field.
